The Sincerest Form of Flattery...

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. To that end, I've decided to reapply one of my oldest music-making learning tools: reproducing my favorite tracks. Trying to reproduce music that you hear on a given instrument effectively forces you to learn how to push the limitations of that equipment. Even if the results aren't perfect, often new tricks are learned in the process...

One of my fav records of all time is Autechre's Incunabula -- so I've decided to re-work the tracks on that album on my Korg EMX-1 as a means to learn the ins and outs of that box. Here's the first, the last track on the record, "444". This is one pattern on the EMX, tweaked in realtime and recorded straight into the computer...
